Give us lifts everywhere
Published: August 25, 2011
THE campaign for a lift at Hampstead Heath station alone is absurd (Royal Free chiefs back station lift call, August 18).
So you need a lift to leave Hampstead Heath station, tell me how did you get on the network?
There is no disabled access from the tube network at any of the interchanges except Willesden Junction and near enough all North London Line stations require stairs to be used for access.
I can’t see many people coming from Richmond or Acton to the Royal Free.
If we want disabled access to our transport system we have to do it wholesale and not piecemeal.
This should be included as a matter of course in all stations that are being modernised.
There are many other things that have been ignored in the rush to get the North London Line ready for the Olympic Games.
Don’t kid yourselves that this has been done for the benefit of regular users of this line.
