Without fear…

Published: 28 April, 2011

• WE were extremely concerned to hear of the stabbings in Mortimer Crescent (New Journal report, April 21) which left one person dead and another seriously injured.

However the police have acted swiftly – making three arrests.

We know that anti-social and criminal behaviour is a sadly too-regular event in our ward, particularly on some of the larger estates.

However, the local Safer Neighbourhoods police team, working with local people through the Safer Neighbourhood Panel, has done much to tackle these problems.

Our thanks go to Kilburn’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team, ably led by Sgt Eddie Odita, for stepping up their patrols in the wake of the incident to give residents some extra assurance.

Thankfully, crimes of this severity are not commonplace in Kilburn.

We will do all we can to support the community, and ensure that everyone can live without fear; particularly the young people who so often are most at threat from crime and gang-related violence.
