When I hear the word…

• ILLTYD Harrington is wrong (April 8) Hermann Goering did not coin the phrase: “Whenever I hear the word culture, I reach for my gun.”

It’s from a character in Schlageter, a 1933 Nazi play by Hanns Johst. The correct translation is: “Whenever I hear the word culture, I release the safety on my Browning.”
