Talacre questions

Published: 28 April, 2011

• WE write to address the concerns raised by residents living near Dalby Street, and the surrounding community, following your article (Dangerous sports centre road needs two marshals, April 14).

The council has required the developers Findon to set up a £1.1 million bond to ensure that access to Talacre sports centre will be managed safely during and after the development of the new homes.

This included a range of measures, such as traffic marshals on Dalby Street to keep the road accessible and safe. Also, while the new flats are taking shape, the sports centre still remains accessible to pedestrians via Prince of Wales Road, or Talacre Gardens.

Concerns over road congestion have also been looked at, with the introduction of new parking provision for non-residents in Talacre Road and an access road for drop-off and pick-up at the sports centre entrance being introduced. There will also be short-stay pay-and-display parking in Talacre Road for those who want to drive to the sports centre.

Camden will continue to work with Findon to ensure that there is minimal impact on the community, as well as centre users, during and after the works.
