Places crisis

Published: 21 April, 2011

• IN response to your article (62 pupils facing wait for a place at school, April 14), I would remind Cllr Heather Johnson that she only ever came to one of our working party meetings over a period of two years and has never really taken on board the problem we have in Belsize Park year after year, of no places in local primary schools for our children.

Medinee Julkalkarni’s story is so common for local parents offered a place at Carlton when she doesn’t drive and there is no direct bus to get her child there.

Here we are in leafy Belsize park with every Tom, Dick and Harry driving through our streets to drop off their children and we can’t even walk to a local school because there isn’t one.

If Camden had sorted this places problem out years ago, we would not be trying to get a free school now.

We, The Belsize Park Primary Committee, hope people continue to add names to our petition: see www.belsizeparkprimary.org so we can campaign on your behalf.

Or just call into Budgens and sign the petition there.
