Just cut out all the treats

• IT’S parents who need to be targeted with regard to what their children eat, especially small children (Obesity plan failing, April 8).

When I go to the local park after school with my three-year-old I keep seeing parents giving their children crisps, ice creams and chocolate biscuits.

Now my little one, of course, wants that kind of junk food too.

I’m sure these mothers mean to give their children treats, but they do it every day and lots of it, and the kids are plump. That’s why I believe it’s the parents that need educating, rather than just offering free school meals, which these children may not even eat.
