Hot day at hospital

Published: 28 April, 2011

• LAST Wednesday, I spent almost four hours at the Whittington Hospital.

Outside temperature was 25C, and the large windows at the front of the hospital were closed. I emailed one governor to ask why this was the case. The reply was to contact the patient advice and liaison services (PALS) office.

I called the office and eventually discovered it was the responsibility of facilities. I was asked to call them. I refused.

I was then told to email or write a letter.

It really is time for the administration at the hospital to change the mindset of the bureaucratic procedure. Why did the governor not ask PALS to investigate? Patients in one clinic had to wait at least 90 minutes to be seen.
