Free school meals for all

• THE controversy over free school meals in Islington is still cropping up. Opponents want to go back to the previous system which divided the poorer pupils from the rich. What is their objection to campaigning for all school meals to be funded from general and progressive taxation so they are all funded at source?

If anybody has to go into a NHS hospital, they are not required to pay a cheque at the reception desk; the treatment has already been paid for and the operation (or whatever) is free at the point of need.
