Expensive and risky

• AMID such dire economic times, should the council be entering into an expensive and risky deal to move their own offices to a sparkling new building?
If they can find the money for this then surely there are better uses of these funds.
In January Lord Fink (a successful financier) explained to the officers and to the few councillors who would listen that the report that supposedly made the economic case for the move was fatally flawed. And who really wants the council to move out of their current offices on Euston Road, opposite St Pancras?
Certainly not the locals, including Argyle School, who would be faced with months of building works replacing a quirky local landmark with a tower-block, looming over the Grade 1-listed St Pancras and King’s Cross stations.
We ask the Labour councillors, do what you promised during your election campaign, cancel the previous administration’s plans to sell the Town Hall Annexe.
And we plead with all councillors, spend money on the community, not on yourselves.
