Back to basics for Irish centre

Published: 21 April, 2011

• THE Irish Centre was paid for by the Irish immigrants, some of whom got help from it when they came to England.

And it was donations from the Irish, some of whom became businessmen particularly in the construction industry. But it seems to have been taken over to run other things like computer courses etc.

The trustees should let us all know exactly what they do and what the centre has done in recent years. I am not convinced those Irish people who needed help got it. It will survive if it goes back to how it used to be run many years ago and the Irish government should appoint one of their staff to be involved. Too many things are run in the name of the Irish but very few Irish benefit.
