Tax exiles

• DENIS Healey’s “squeeze the rich” Budgets (As I Please, Illtyd Harrington, August 26) put up income tax to ludicrous top levels of 83 per cent and 98 per cent and drove many of our best people into tax exile.

When tax reaches the point when a majority of someone’s income goes to the state, tax becomes theft and avoiding it becomes resistance.
