Power-share? No thanks

• HAS Councillor Theo Blackwell (Sharing staff may save a fortune, September 16) finally lost the plot with the basic mathematics?

Surely he cannot be serious about entering into a partnership deal with a neighbouring borough that thrives on privatisation of its core front-line services.

It “may save significant sums,” he says. Is he just playing with words in the hope that it will pay off?

Note he chooses an example whereby this may have worked in the past – from Germany.

However, we are talking about sharing responsibility with another inner-London borough, Islington, with a financial crisis equal to that of Camden.

Surely this will not be without further job cuts to core services.

Are residents and taxpayers of Camden expected to watch the reduction of the services we have left without being consulted first.

Is sharing a chief executive a good option?

I think not. Our current chief executive will not be able to commit or act in the best interests of Camden within a part-time job-share.

If anything Camden will incur further wage costs for the current officers who will act in her absence.

I think it is high time that Cllr Blackwell comes down from the mystery planet that he finds himself on and back to reality, and finds a solution, at the same time consulting the many residents of the borough who are being treated like second-class citizens.
