More spine less spin!

• YET again the New Journal has allowed itself to be used as a PR vehicle for Alastair Campbell as he continues on his pathetic and rather blatant image-rebuilding mission (Campbell and son’s helping hand… September 16).
How has this been allowed to happen?
Any senior government official who had acted like Mr Campbell in the run-up to the Iraq invasion should have slid away from public view a long time ago.
Instead we are treated to the regular spectacle of an unrepentant Mr Campbell strutting across the pages and screens of the media like some crazed one-man PR machine on a road to redemption.
Does he exert some kind of hidden grip on the media which lets this absurd level of self-promotion go on unchallenged?
How else do we explain the ample opportunities afforded to Mr Campbell by the BBC and other media to plug his various flimsy books or “selfless” charity work.”
And all this despite his pivotal role in the diabolical PR exercise which distorted the truth about Iraq’s weapons and led to the mass slaughter of its people.
Campbell remains unapologetic despite having much innocent blood on his hands.
He must surely realise that no end of worthy causes (playing a game of footie?) or clever rebranding will ever disguise this.
Please New Journal… Less spin. More spine.
