Let’s enjoy our canal

• IF I read one more letter moaning about the recent work that British Waterways did on the canal, I’ll jump in it.
I am a regular canal user, mainly as a mum with a push-chair but I also occasionally cycle on it and jog along it. I have rarely, if ever, had a problem with other users.
I think the new ramp at Danbury Street is excellent. There is plenty of space for push-chair users and cyclists to get by without touching one another.
As for banning “potentially lethal” cyclists, what hogwash! (Banning towpath cyclists will give us a nice, safe park, September 17) Most cyclists are considerate, but as in any walk of life you will always get troublemakers. Should we ban all dogs because some owners can’t be bothered to clean up their dog mess?
I moved into this area years ago, when the canal was rundown and rarely used. Its renaissance is an exciting and fantastic contribution to Islington life.
So perhaps, instead of whining about cyclists and whingeing about the new ramp, can’t we just all enjoy the canal path and celebrate it as part of the fabric of this wonderfully diverse and vibrant area of London?
