Costs of caretaking
Published: 2 September, 2010
• FURTHER to the letter (Mopping up after them, August 19) about poor caretaking in council flats I, too, have to clean our disgusting flat entrance and stairs as the caretaker only does them once a week and then in a very poor manner.
What are the supervisors doing?
Perhaps the New Journal could take some photographs which would show that we are not making up this complaint.
Could someone advise what would happen if we withheld our £8 per week caretaker fee which is the cost of this “service”?
Over the years I have complained to the housing office but nothing happens.
The fact is that, owing to the disgusting habits of some of our neighbours (spitting is the worst problem also the leaking of rubbish sacks as they are taken down), our stairs need cleaning every day.
Perhaps the many tenants’ groups should take up this issue of withholding the service charge for poor caretaking.
