War record a sad failure

• I WAS amazed at your article (Kofi Annan portrait unveiled at the UN, October 15) and the reference to  “a man who always tried to stop the world going to war”.

Well, judging by the way things have gone over the past number of years, I would say he failed miserably. Some hero! 

Obviously artist John Keane doesn’t have any offspring in military uniform now, or for another time.
