No mayor!

• REGGIE KRAY (above left with Ron) was released on compassionate grounds shortly before his death. 

I believe that he should have been released a lot earlier. For killing a vile gangster like Jack – The Hat – McVitie, 20 years would have been more than enough.

Although Kray trial judge Sir Aubrey Melford Stevenson was undoubtedly biased there’s never been any doubt about their guilt. 

And I don’t care for Illtyd Harrington’s snide comment (book review, Twin power without the glory, October 15) that Ron’s natural place would have been as Lord Mayor of London.

How many holders of that ancient and honourable position have been psychopaths or gangsters?

I’d like an honest reply. 

I prefer the gentlemen of the Mansion House to the politicians of County Hall.
