No brakes!

• THE figures quoted for the percentage of docking stations across London which have been refused permission in Westminster are highly misleading (City Hall ‘putting brakes on Boris Bikes scheme’, October 22).
While we have scrutinised each and every application carefully on behalf of our residents, and have been prepared to refuse those we felt were detrimental to local people and the surroundings, the percentage refused out of our applications is actually 16.8 per cent. While out of total applications across London it is true to say we have refused more docking stations than anywhere else, that’s because we have more docking stations than anywhere else.
The London Assembly member you quoted, [Murad Qureshi] who sought to attack the council for refusing more, could easily have heaped praise on the council for permitting more. It’s strange he chose not to. I’m sure it was just an innocent oversight.
