Irate woman confronts egg-throwing ‘cowards’

• THE egg throwing on Agar Grove estate you reported in August 2009 is still continuing.
The police may regard this activity as of little importance, however it is only a matter of time before people are seriously injured.
On the evening of October 10, I and two male cyclists were pelted with eggs in Royal College Street.
the five men and teenagers thought it great fun to throw with force these missiles at car windscreens, cyclists and pedestrians.
Egg, when mixed with water turns milky.
Trying to clean your windscreen using a car windscreen washer could have fatal consequences; even the shock of the bang on metal and glass could cause a driver to crash or a cyclist to fall off and be run over.
What if you had an egg allergy and suffered anaphylaxis?
The incident was reported to the police and I later saw these men lurking by the shop on the Agar Grove estate.
Again they pelted my car as I drove along Agar Grove ignoring the danger to the public and then they ran into the estate to escape.
Following them I was able to give a good description of their clothing to the police.
They then climbed the wall bordering the new footpath to Camley Street and from this perch the eldest, in his twenties, continued to throw eggs at me.
Eventually this thug dropped down to the other side of the wall and presumably went over the footbridge into Maiden Lane rather than into the Elm Village Estate where there is CCTV (due to drug dealing in the past).
I angered their ringleader (well-built in his twenties wearing a black tracksuit with white flashes on the sides and white trainers) as I dared them to hit me in person and called them cowards for only hitting people from a distance.
He then replied that he had a policy of not hitting women! Well, what did he think that throwing an egg at a woman’s head was? Kindness?
I am sure that these hooligans did not expect to be confronted by an irate middle-aged woman.
Would their mothers really approve of them assaulting men and women without cause?
Let us not forget that this behaviour is not just anti-social, it is criminal.
These men are thugs who need to be stopped before they kill someone.
They might not use knives but they are no better than those who do.
