Echo of Tony’s promises

• READING Councillor Nasim Ali’s letter (New leader demonstrates party’s optimism, October 7) eulogising Ed Miliband and the new New Labour reminds me of the same kind of promises we heard from Tony Blair and all who went before.

When New Labour was in power what did it do? Added a few crumbs to the minimum wage and built new hospitals with PFI money, which is costing us a fortune in interest repayments.

Let’s see what happens.

Perhaps Ed is making all the right noises now but then so have others before and look where we are: four wars under New Labour and a bankrupt nation with no industrial base.

Answer that one.
