Criminals at the top

Published: 14 October, 2010

• WITH a national debt of £155billion and growing, there are going to have to be cuts.

The question is: where are they going to be made?

The government cannot allow the debt to get out of control by more borrowing, so its aim is to make the working class bear the brunt of the crisis caused by the banking and financial sector.

If there is only weak opposition to this, it will succeed.

Those who obtain benefits illegally must be dealt with. But what about the criminals at the top?

The government must close all tax loopholes, particularly those at the higher end.

Huge corporations and wealthy individuals employ accountancy firms to avoid and evade paying tax to the tune of £40billion a year.

The government must stop them stashing money away in overseas tax havens.

Our aim must be to make it clear that no jobs or services will be cut that benefit those at the bottom of society.
