Bed count

Published: 21 October, 2010

• THE assertion by Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust that it regularly has more than 70 empty beds does not compute with the New Journal’s story (Anger as local patients shifted out of London, October 7) about people not being accommodated in Camden when they need mental health care.

Even if its figures were correct, it still seems to be having problems with its arithmetic since it wants to close more than 100 beds which is more than half again than it claims to have empty each day.
