A time to remember
Published: 5 November, 2010
• THIS year Remembrance Sunday falls on November 14. I should like as many people as possible to join me for the Remembrance Sunday parade and inter-faith service at the War Memorial on Islington Green.
The service begins at 10.40am and the two-minutes silence will be observed at 11am. Afterwards, at 11.40am, there will be a short service at the War Memorial at Spa Green, followed by a community remembrance event at Manor Gardens at 2pm.
For this year’s Poppy Appeal the legion is focusing on its support for the Afghan generation of the armed forces family.
May I urge readers to buy a poppy. They will be on sale in the Town Hall and at 222 Upper Street. If anyone can help by being a poppy seller, please contact the Royal British Legion on 0800 085 5924.
CLLR MOUNA HAMITOUCHE
Mayor of Islington
