Thanks for hampers

• THANK you to the New Journal for conducting your annual Christmas hamper appeal. My neighbour lost her husband over a year ago and was clearly lonely and isolated without his support. We all rallied round to support her but the thing that picked her up most was receiving a generous hamper from your paper. It lifted her spirits at her lowest time.  She even encouraged me to write this letter.

I also wish to thank our fearless Mayor Jonathan Simpson and my councillor Tulip Siddiq for supporting this year’s appeal so strongly by doing a sponsored skydive. I’m doing my bit by sponsoring them for £10. I hope all your readers will consider doing the same.
