Party diktat

Published: 25 November, 2010

• TONY Fisher wrote about his mental health service-users group being forbidden to call its party a Christmas party – diktat from above wants to impose a new name for such – a festival event.

Councillors should stamp out this nonsense.

If Mr Fisher and his group want to have a Christmas party – let the them call it that.

It is still legal to do so.

It is a cultural custom of the majority of people here in England.

It might be helpful to recall a saying: “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” The winter solstice is a time of peace – and parties.
