Fireworks shame
Published: 11 November, 2010
• I WRITE to express my great disappointment that we had no arranged public firework display whatsoever in our area of north London this year.
Financial restrictions meant that the Alexander Palace display was also cancelled).
Some of us who are slogging our guts out at work, leaving home early and arriving home late, and who have budgeted hard in our own households, would have loved something to look forward to at the weekend to cheer ourselves up.
Some time ago we were informed that the Primrose Hill fireworks were a victim of their own success due to health and safety, but surely some marshalling of numbers and perhaps a £5 family charge could have been brought to bear and it be reinstated?
I am sure I am not the only resident who would love to see it back again. Camden Council shame on you for being such a killjoy.
If Camden will not take on the challenge is no one out there prepared to sponsor a public firework display in 2011? I for one would be extremely grateful.
