Festive hypocrisy?
Published: 25 November, 2010
• TONY Fisher’s letter about Camden Council’s view of the festive season smacks of pious hypocrisy (Council’s correctness control, November 18).
Surely if he is really concerned about listening to the users of the local mental health services then he would be more concerned about the wellbeing
of Tom Costello, who was moved to a Northampton hospital, than whether he was going to be allowed to have a “Christmas party”.
Sadly, he seems to be representative of all too many of those in the user movement.
In these circumstances it makes little difference whether the organisation is independent or run by the local council, since it will only be interested in what those leading it can gain and not better treatment for all.
