Curious

Published: 25 November, 2010

• LOOKING at my notes from the November 2 Gospel Oak Labour meeting at which residents and councillors discussed the issue of regeneration, we were assured by councillors that “nothing has been decided”, “no decisions about regeneration will take place without consultation” and that “there will be no reduction in social housing”.

Far from “waiting for honest answers” (New Journal Letters November 18), we were told how to get involved and help shape the consultation. We were also informed about the first council consultation meeting  (today) November 25.

I am curious as to why Gospel Oak Neighbourhood Action Group, rather than directing residents to this meeting, is publicising a separate meeting on November 30 – a date when it knows councillors are not free.

I agree with GONAG that meetings could be publicised better, but when such meetings do take place, the people of Gospel Oak deserve better than to have the meetings’ outcomes misrepresented.
