When will I get Freedom?

Published: 20 May, 2010

• DOES anyone know how I can obtain my new Freedom Pass?
Camden wrote to me saying that because of a technical error I had been overlooked for a new pass.
Enclosed was an application form and a request for a photograph. I returned these promptly but heard nothing.
Two telephone calls over the next three weeks met with no response; but then came an envelope, no letter, no apology, just another application form and a further request for a photograph.
These were duly returned by recorded delivery.

Meanwhile some bus drivers accepted the old pass while others charged me £2 for each journey. No further communications have been received from Camden. I also wrote to Camden’s mayor but had no reply there either.
I am sure I shall next be hearing that I don’t exist, despite the fact that I have had a regular pass. I am now nearly 84, and have lived in Camden for 60 years.
Am I being unreasonable about Camden’s disgusting behaviour?
To add insult to injury, Camden told me not to forget to put a stamp on my return envelope as failure to do so might delay my Freedom Pass.
