What to make of the results?

LABOUR did very well in all the big cities. They regained Liverpool and became the single biggest party in Sheffield. I am not sure of the myriad of reasons – in London the result was absolutely stupendous, with councils turning back to Labour across the board. The core support who perhaps were not motivated to vote Labour in 2005 came out to stop a Cameron government. They returned to the fold, and I am very pleased about that.
