Tenants win a victory against homes sell-offs

Published: 27 May, 2010

• TENANTS in Camden have won an important victory in our campaign against council housing sell-offs.
I want to invite all tenants associations and reps to our annual meeting on June 14 in the Town Hall Council  Chamber, 6.30pm with refreshments.

We have invited councillors Nash Ali and Julian Fulbrook to speak and look forward to hearing from one of them (at least). We know they are very busy but hope that they realise how important it is to establish the good working relationship we want with the new council.

The new Labour council promised in their manifesto to work to bring all caretaking services back in-house, ending the mess and waste of the Veolia outsourcing.

We will be delighted to hear from them how they will go about doing this. And we want to hear whether they will also stop the sell-off of homeless hostels, so the homeless are not pushed back into insecure private renting.

I welcome all council tenants, reps and friends, and the future leader and housing executive member, to this important meeting.
