Stay vigilant

• JULIET Lyle (Letters May 7) is very clear about the dangers to Green Park of the proposed Bomber Command Memorial.
I write as someone whose family was devastated by the loss of someone in Bomber Command and after whom I am named.
If we allow one encroachment, when will the next be?
Besides the proposed site will attract crowds with all that desecration caused by litter.
Why was it necessary to put war memorials to New Zealand and Australia forces in the roundabout in front of Apsley House?
Surely now public opinion would never have allowed the loss of a huge area of Hyde Park to make Park Lane a dual carriageway? Those who enjoy the “lungs” of the capital should remain vigilant.
