Pubs help to keep Soho’s legendary music scene live
Published: 7 May 2010
• IT is good to see in the economic recession, with pubs closing down, that there are two pubs within 100 metres or so of each other in Soho doing quite well with live music in them.
The Blue Post in Robert Street on a Sunday afternoon has a jazz band called The Fallen Heroes playing.
Then after 8pm upstairs another band play for a couple of hours.
Blues mostly.
Across the road in Gerard Street, 10 yards from the original Ronnie Scott’s in the 1950s and 1960s in the old Post Office exchange building, is a new pub called the Exchange Bar. They have live music and allow guest artists to make appearances on stage, just like in Ronnie Scott’s 45 years ago.
So it is good to see that some things haven’t changed in Soho in the music scene.
These two pubs are worth visiting.
