A one-way trip to Zurich?
Published: 7 May, 2010
• WITH the election campaign over, it is time to recall your Illtyd Harrington’s warning (April 16) that promises made to pensioners could all too easily be forgotten afterwards.
The more so given the money wasted by government – and still further compounded if medical science further prolongs the age of the population.
But that crucially costly element in the NHS budget could be solved if politicians were prepared to do the “unthinkable”.
Rather than forcibly keeping alive the aged who are longing for the relief of death – at least for those not rich enough or to feeble to take the one-way trip to Zurich – the National Health Service should offer a voluntary euthanasia service.
In passing, I’d mention that I am in my 80th year.
