Lessons?

• NOW that Labour will form the new council, let us hope that they have learned the lesson of 2006 – ignore electors’ concerns and suffer the consequences: four years in the wilderness.
Some good has come from the deposed alliance: a refurbished swimming baths will soon reopen in Prince of Wales Road, thanks to Councillor Flick Rea.
Our Haverstock ward councillors have served us well and offer themselves for re-election on May 25. That election was delayed due to the sad demise of Councillor Syed Hoque, a very caring man.
Though library hours were extended (but not at Chalk Farm) the redesign of libraries was pushed through despite opposition. And why were librarians humiliated by being made to reapply for their jobs?
The most contentious policy was the sale of public housing stock.
A blatant example was the sale of a modern three-flat block in Belsize Park within yards of the homeless families hostel in Englands Lane.
That must stop and the re-elected members of parliament should lobby the next government so that the withheld “better housing” funds can be released. Voting matters
