Big issue

• I STOOD in Kilburn as an individual candidate for a seat (no whips) on Camden Council and would like to thank the 90 people who voted for me.
Our campaign to stop the closure of Kilburn Polytechnic got onto the candidates’ agenda.
My thanks and congratulations to our Kilburn and Hampstead MP, Glenda Jackson, who won by half as many votes as I polled.
My total campaign cost less than £10 and was a good way to get this Kilburn Polytechnic “closure” up onto the public agenda – and stopped hopefully.
I would like to thank the Camden electoral services especially, who were very helpful, working long hours and  the many volunteer counters/canvassers, although somehow I think they might be needed again soon.
