Who will sign up?

• IN the run-up to what look to be close-run elections, Better Archway Forum is inviting all candidates to a political hustings on Wednesday, April 28, in Hargrave Hall (at the corner of Hargrave Road between Holloway and Junction roads) in Archway.

Starting at 7.30pm, it will be chaired by local academic Stephen Wood. The event will offer residents of north Islington wards a chance to talk about issues that concern us. It will also give us a chance to discuss the mission statement for the centre of Archway to which some candidates have signed up:

If elected I will:

• Build on Archway’s strengths of mixed uses and community – its small businesses, leading hospital, schools, heritage buildings and green spaces.

• Promote low-carbon, incremental improvements.

• Work to remove the gyratory.

• Improve pedestrian circulation.

• Reinstate the town centre.

• Oppose big retail-led redevelopment.

Chair, Better Archway Forum
