Taking care

Published: 25th March 2010

• FOR the past few years, we had a great caretaker who cleaned our block of flats.
Every week he would be sweeping down the stairs from top to bottom, then mopping. He always kept our block immaculate.
Then someone at Camden decided that it would be a good idea to get Veolia to sweep the courtyards instead, apparently giving the caretakers more time to concentrate on the internal cleaning of the blocks of flats they were assigned to.
That is so laughable.
Since this change the caretaker who was assigned to clean our block just mops inside the intercom door and up the first set of stairs. It gives the impression that he has mopped the whole block, which he has not. He has not swept down our stairs or mopped the stairs now for well over a month.
The landings are filthy.
It would do well for these caretaking supervisors actually to come into the block and check from time to time.
