People power wins while Boris scores an own goal

• RESIDENTS worried about the World Cup being screened in Regent’s Park are not Nimbys (not in my back yarders).
We had a number of legitimate concerns about public safety and commercialising the parks. If Mayor of London Boris Johnson had talked through his plans with the community perhaps we could have come to an agreement.
Instead he acted like a bull in a china shop, putting forward
half-baked plans which caused a lot of concern in the community and probably cost a lot of taxpayer money to draw up.
And now we find out that nothing is going to happen!
This is a success for people power.
It should be a learning experience for public bodies that you need to spend time going out there and explaining your plans to the community.
You might even learn something!
