Dreams dashed for children of Edith Neville

Published: 11 March 2010

• I REFER to the article  about cash for the school diverted (Cash for schools diverted, February 25). I am a Labour Party candidate for St Pancras and Somers Town Ward,   and a parent of a
child at Edith Neville Primary School.
I was very disappointed and shocked to know that Camden Council have delayed funds that are urgently needed for the rebuilding of Edith Neville School.
The children of Edith Neville have a dream to see a new school.
There are constant problems with the building, and the council itself has acknowledged Edith Neville as one of the neediest in terms of investment. Indeed, the families and children have all been working towards the long overdue rebuild and have contributed to a community plan for a new school, which is needed NOW and not at some indefinite future date.
My question is how such a decision was made? Extra places that are needed in Camden should not be provided at the expense of vital school building work in existing schools.
