Council's inaction leaves Soho Square a 'mud patch'

Published: 12 March 2010

• INTERESTING views from Councillor Jonathan Glanz regarding Soho Square – “there is very limited open space in Soho” he tells us.
Indeed there is, thanks to his city council’s inaction leaving Soho Square largely a mud patch. This, despite promising six months ago to regrass the damage done by their works.
“Westminster supports the ongoing vibrancy of Soho and recognises its unique contribution to London” he tells us (Letters, March 5). Indeed they do with third-world potted pavements, tartan road coverings.
Yes, Soho is unique; the environmental care is virtually non-existent despite the high rates we pay.
“In my view” says Cllr Glanz “it is extremely unlikely that Soho will resemble Surbiton any time soon”.
Perhaps he has not been back to Soho since he first sought our votes. Then he promised to upgrade the look of Soho. To date zilch.
More specious platitudes from our political representative!
