This brave councillor

I READ your story about Councillor Rebecca Hossack voting for UK Online
(Art gallery Tory told: Vote with party or we will ‘kick you out’, March 4).
I am a resident of the Brunswick Centre and I approached Cllr Hossack some months ago after first approaching the director for all the community centres in Camden including the Marchmont Centre.
He was not prepared to do anything bar setting up a petition signed by the people who used the computers.
I contacted Cllr Hossack as I was very concerned about the many elderly and disabled people who relied on the Marchmont Community Centre.
We met and she agreed to take up the fight.
Cllr Hossack then voted at a full council meeting to support UK Online and, as a result, was threatened with deselection but still held out and supported the vote for UK Online.
She is a brave individual who put the concerns of the constituents first.
As a result of her stand the council are reconsidering their position.
Cllr Hossack has also been helping the tenants and residents of Foundling Court and O’Donnell Court with the damp and water incursion in around a third of the flats.
She has been very supportive and instrumental in moving things forward and her support has been much appreciated.
It is rare that a politician puts people above politics but, thankfully for all those that who use the centre she did.
The Conservatives do not deserve her.
