Who will fix park leak?

Published: 4 June 2010

• FOLLOWING last week’s article about Alex Pascall’s leaking pipe and problems with Thames Water’s customer service (Saga of leaking pipework in front garden that ran and ran, May 28), I would like to add my own complaints over a similar problem.

A substantial amount of water, presumably from a cracked pipe, has been leaking onto the grass and the footway at Highbury Fields close to the café.

In my estimation it has been leaking 24 hours a day for eight weeks, which is an awful lot of water.

Apart from the waste of water at a time when we are being cajoled into saving our diminishing resources, there is also a potential hazard.

Indeed, walking through the park in the dark you could find yourself splashing into the pool and could slip, with unpleasant consequences.

I have spoken to two people at Thames Water – I assume from customer services – to try to get this leak repaired.

But I wouldn’t say either was particularly helpful. All they seem to do is pass the buck to someone else. Meanwhile, the water continues to gush.
