Stalin plan?
Published: 11 June, 2010
• LIKE councillor Paul Convery, I do not know what Stalin has to do with Islington planning procedure (Leave it to the experts, June 4).
I do not know that, under Tsar John Foster and his predecessors, we have reached a situation in Finsbury where there is not a square yard remaining on which to build council housing for the Finsbury working class. Paul’s centralised “expert committee” appears likely to continue this state of affairs. The people of Finsbury should be able to decide on planning matters at ward level. As things are, they have less say than the parish council of the tiniest country village.
One thing you can say about Stalin: he got rid of the Tsar!
