Martin’s passion to help the vulnerable

• I WISH to also pay tribute to Councillor Martin Davies, whose sad death has come as a great shock to people throughout the borough.
I am shocked and saddened by Martin’s untimely death.
He was a lovely, kind and generous man and it is a great loss for us all.
I met Martin first in 1996 but struck up a friendship with him despite having different political alliances.
He was passionate about the need to help people who are elderly and vulnerable.
Martin was already a sitting councillor by the time I was elected in 2002.
He worked hard for his residents and was always a pleasure to deal with in the town hall.
Martin more recently did me the huge honour of seconding my nomination to become mayor.
His generous words and sense of humour helped make the evening one to remember and I was very pleased to see his partner Richard there.
As the new Mayor of Camden I wish to say that Martin was one of a kind.
We will all miss him and wish to extend our deepest sympathies to his friends, family and to Richard his partner.
CLLR JONATHAN SIMPSON
Mayor of the London Borough of Camden
