It’s time to reclaim the flag of St George from the right

• I WAS stunned to discover that the Marks & Spencer on Camden High Street will not be supporting the England football team in this summer's festivities.

My husband went into the shop to find the staff there taking down all the St George’s flags; this was apparently because there was a complaint from someone who found them offensive.

It therefore surprised me to learn that Marks & Spencer supplied the official England team suits for the World Cup.

I feel that they may have been a little hasty in their removal of the flags.

If it was the Saltire or the Stars and Stripes, no one would have batted an eyelid.

Isn’t it time the English took their flag back from the far right of politics?

Would that process not be helped by the likes of M&S displaying it for celebratory purposes?

Patriotism does not equal racism.

Come on England!
