Gail’s bid for top post

• IN your comment (Days of Mills and boom are over – but what next? June 10), you mentioned that Gail Cartmail, a senior Unite official, who took part in a BBC2 Newsnight discussion was a Camden resident.

Gail did live in Camden some years ago but now lives in south London.

What you did not mention is that Gail is now standing for the position of general secretary of Unite, the union, the biggest and by far the most powerful in the UK.

If successful, she would be one of a handful of women trade union leaders in this country.
