Future clear as mud

• A WHOLE lot of stuff has been said in the past few months about Archway and regeneration possibilities. I had even heard through the grapevine that a newly-victorious Labour executive councillor had been visiting the area and promising lots of developments to various interested parties.

As such it is remarkable that they have managed in just one month to diminish the appeal of Archway. I was walking home from visiting a constituent’s business in the Mall late last week when I saw that some paving on the main thoroughfare had been removed and in its place builders’ rubble had been shovelled in.

I imagine that after the terrific downpour we’ve just experienced this is now a large patch of squelchy mud.
