Estate’s Save All Our Homes campaign says thanks for listening

Published: 17 June, 2010

• WHEN the new Labour administration took over in Camden things began to look up for the Maiden Lane estate Save All Our Homes campaign.

Councillor Julian Fulbrook, the new housing supremo, invited a representative from the campaign to a meeting where two of the council regeneration team would be present together with council deputy leader Angela Mason.

At the start of the meeting Cllr Fulbrook laid down the ground rules: Demolishing people’s homes was not something that a Labour administration would do.

With these words Cllr Fulbrook laid to rest the threat that has hung over some 215 decent families on the estate for some four years.

There would be no demolition on the estate and residents could breathe a sigh of relief. Later, at Monday’s AGM of Camden Federation, the councillor repeated the assurance.

Save All Our Homes wishes to thank all the supporters who have worked for the campaign.

We would also like to thank the incoming administration for listening to us when no one else would.
