Beware of tow truck

Published: 4 June 2010

• I HAVE been parking at the N1 Centre on residual patches of land for more than four years.

There are no signs indicating not to and most scooter riders or motorcyclists park responsibly, safely and mindful of pedestrians whenever they can, often because there are no parking bays in the immediate area or simply because it is convenient.

Now, notes are being stuck to bikes warning that we are on private property and will be towed away if parking reoccurs.

I contacted the N1 and it indicated that it provided (at a fee) adequate parking, but could give no substantive reason for the change in policy – no member of the public had complained and no incident had occurred.

Bikes are not unattractive or off-putting. On the contrary, they add to the cosmopolitan feel – indeed, doesn’t Tinderbox have one inside its shop. Careful, guys, you might be getting a tow truck coming your way very soon.
